Bubba's First Birthday Party!

This is a virtual Birthday Party for Bubba! Yes, we know the party is getting started kind of late, but it has been a very long day. Come on by and say howdy and happy birthday. As our gift to you, please feel free to leave a link to your website as you sign your birthday wishes in the comment.  If you have any problems leaving your link or any pics you might want to leave, please let us know. This is the first time I have tried to adjust the settings so that links and pics could be left.

Stew and cookies will be ready in a few minutes.

THE STEW AND DUMPLINGS are now ready! Grab yourself a bowl and dip you some up.

BUBBA'S Birthday Cookie is ready! (Peanut Butter) He just blew out his candle and it's time to eat cookies! Don't worry, I have a plate full set aside for all of us humans that don't want dog slobbers (from blowing out that candle) on theirs.

It's time for presents now, that is tradition around here, anyway, right after cake/cookies. But Bubba got overanxious and got his gift earlier today. That was okay, though, because it was so pretty outside this afternoon for running around and playing with it.

Yes, I know, a little blurry, but I had to take the pic fast before he ran off with it.

The party will continue on for hours. Anyone ready for some chips and dip? Just dive on in. Remember, no double dipping.

Happy Birthday, Bubba, from me and ALL of the Bunch here at Granny Annie's Farm!

But.... Shhhhhh...... we are planning a surprise party for him. Right now a big kettle of stew is on the stove cooking. After I get off of here I will be heading into the kitchen to make him a special dessert for tonight. Then.... we will P A R T Y!!!!

YES, later this evening, we will be having a SURPRISE,  VIRTUAL Birthday Party for Bubba, and all of you are invited.... human readers, cats, dogs ... all of you.  There will be plenty of human and critter treats to go around. So check back a little later as one of us will be posting the link to the Virtual Party. We hope to see you there!

Granny Pitched Us Outside! (Rover)

And it is getting ready to S N O W !!!!!

We shouldn't have done it. Granny has been letting us grown up dogs come in at night to sleep because it has been so cold. She puts me in one bathroom (it is nice and roomy) and the two girls in the other bathroom. And she makes us a nice, comfy warm bed with lots of blankets.

Granny brags that I behave really well, but those girls get pretty destructive sometimes. Granny says she has to put everything up really high where they can't reach anything. But tonight was different. All of us were keyed up. Granny was out of dog food again so she was so nice and spent the whole evening cooking us up lots and lots of pancakes. It was such a good dinner. She fixes dinner like this a lot for us, so that wasn't anything different. Then she played with us a few minutes (as usual) and sent us to our rooms to go to bed.

Every night, I scratch on the door for a few minutes because I want to sleep with Granny. But Granny Annie tells me to settle down and go to sleep, which I finally do. But NOT tonight! Tonight I got really rowdy! I was so keyed up and I DID NOT want to stay in that bathroom. It is a big, warm bathroom with a big bed for me, and lots of room for me to walk around, but I still wanted to get out and run around the house. I scratched at the door, Granny told me to settle down and go to bed, but I decided I didn't want to. I pulled the molding and the framing loose that the door latches into and opened the door... all by myself! I was so proud of myself, but Granny was  M A D!!! I pulled the whole thing loose from the floor to the ceiling, then pulled out a little of the sheet rock. Well.... I didn't hurt the door ...... it still works..... give me a little credit, will ya?

But Granny Annie was so mad she said I had to go back outside and sleep in my own house. We big dogs do have our own house, and it is pretty nice. It is an 8ft x 8ft wooden storage building, stuffed full of straw and a heavy curtain over the door so we can go in and out freely but it still stays closed to the cold. It is nice as far as dog houses go, and tall enough Granny can stand up in it, but she still has been letting us sleep in the house at night because she worries we will get too cold at night. But tonight, I have to sleep out here, in the straw instead of my nice warm bed of blankies and my Teddy bear. She won't put a blanket out here anymore because I just drag it out and we play tug-of-war with it until it is shreds.

I don't know what the girls did tonight, but not long after Granny pitched me back outside, she pushed them on out the door to come sleep with me!!! She was so mad she was yelling at them .... said it was nearly morning already and she had to get some sleep without everything in the house getting chewed up. Maybe we will find out tomorrow (later today?) what they did. I am going to go get snuggled down in the straw with the girls,  in our little house and get comfy and warm before much of that snow starts falling. This stinks! I was extra restless and just wanted to snoop around for awhile. Next thing you know I ended up out here. I hope Granny cools off and lets me sleep in the house tomorrow night. Good thing it isn't super cold tonight. Good night, all. Sweet dreams. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

(Mary) There's Someone in that Box!!!!

. . . . . . .and we're gonna get them before they hurt Granny!

There is this big, gray box in Granny Annie's living room. It looks kinda like her computer, even has a screen, but it doesn't do anything. It just sits there. On top of it is another box, but Granny has never used that, either. We figured it was just a big, strange looking clock.

Except for us critters, it is always pretty quiet around here. Then tonight, Granny says, "We need some Christmas music!" Next thing you know, she pushes a little button on that big gray box and that screen, like on the computer, lights up! Even Bubba, who is 10 months old, has never seen that thing come on! Then she pulls out this little round plastic thing and sticks it in that little box on top of the big box.  Oh, my!

Next thing you know, some man starts singing!!! There was no picture on that gray box, like on Granny's computer, just some words, so that man had to be hiding in that big ole box. We all started fiercely barking and growling his way, to let him know he better not come near our Granny! Me, Nellie, Fifi, and Bubba circled all around that gray box and barked and howled at the top of our lungs (Dusty was no help... he was upstairs taking a nap). I don't know why Granny was laughing so hard. We were trying to protect her!!!

That man just kept singing... then some other people joined in with him... there were a bunch of people hiding in that box just waiting to come out and get our Granny! We started running all around and jumping at it, desperately trying to get those people away from Granny. But darn that Granny, she just kept laughing! She couldn't even stand up straight, she was laughing so hard. But this was serious! I don't know what she thought was so funny because intruders were in our house!

Granny laughed and tripped all the way to the front door and opened it. The other three Boxers ran out, continuing to bark and howl as they ran all around the house trying to find the intruders and chase them away, but I stayed in to protect Granny and stood guard between her and that big gray box (she said it was just an old TV, whatever that is).

Finally, after awhile, those people that were singing started to sound pretty soothing. Granny kept saying they were okay, and they finally lulled me to sleep. I guess they are alright, just so long as they stay inside that big gray box and don't try to come out of it. But if they do, I am going to be right there ready to bite them and chase them out of our cozy, warm house. And until then, they sound pretty good. I think I will just lay here and listen to that pretty sound they are making that Granny Annie calls Christmas music. She says those people are called Trans Siberian Orchestra. They do sound pretty good.

Wordless Wednesday

Hoping not to see any of this this year!
